Command is Very Teachable

Teaching yourself command can be as easy as adjusting your Starting Position.

Your Feedback Loops

Your Brain continually receives messages about your balance, determines how you react to any imbalance, and dictates the movements needed to stabilize your Body.

The only way to control your movements is to understand how your Body reacts to your imbalances, then plan your movement around these reactions.

Poorly Timed Imbalances Hurt Command.

A plan that ends your Front Leg lift with your weight over your Back Foot means your movement down the mound creates an imbalance, drives your Body to self-correct, and alters your Throwing Arm path.

Start this way and, unless you find the right tempo, you’re unlikely to produce the command you want.

Balance Drives Command.

However, end your Front Leg lift with your Body in balance, and it becomes very possible to choreograph the end of your stride.

By finishing your delivery with the right imbalance, your Brain uses your Throwing Arm to get your Body back in balance and, in the process, produce the command that’ll keep your pitching dreams alive.

Make Your Command a Foregone Conclusion.

Once you design a Front Leg lift that’ll promote balance, you can choreograph the self-corrections that’ll produce the command you want.

An Improvement Strategy That Works.

Systematically improving your results is possible and here’s how!

Your delivery is a sequence of movements where each action creates a response, and your last response determines each pitch outcome.

Balance increases the frequency of your best outcomes.

Your first goal is to use your Foot Placements to keep your weight in balance into your Front Leg lift.

With a balanced Front Leg lift, you increase the chance you move down the mound with your Throwing Arm free to respond to your Lower Body.

The more you keep your Throwing Arm free to respond to your Lower Body, the more you increase the frequency of your pitches producing the results you expect.

Imbalance hurts your result.

In the same way each movement builds upon the next, when any single movement creates an imbalance, your imbalance lowers your frequency of good outcomes.

In fact, the earlier your movements create an imbalance, the more you struggle to produce the results you want.

Instantly Improve Your Results.

When your results fail to meet your expectations, follow your motion’s flow.

Correct the imbalances you see from your Foot Placements into your Front Leg lift, then from your Front Leg lift into your movement down the mound and your results will instantly improve.

Is Your Starting Position Your Downfall?

Unless you learn to start right, your pitching dreams will forever be in sight but always out of reach.

Create an imbalance, and, like your Mind uses your Arms to keep you from falling off a balance beam, your gut reaction is to use your Arms to get your Body back to balance.

This basic fact leads to one of the biggest misconceptions in pitching.

The Big Pitching Misconception

When you end your Front Leg lift with your weight centered over your Back Foot, you believe your Body is in balance.

In the simple sense, you’re right, but, when you take a closer look, to move into your delivery, you must shift your weight toward your target.

Your weight shift demands your Mind will use your Throwing Arm path to offset your forward weight shift and watch your command issues destroy your pitching dreams.

The Facts

You get better results more often when you use your legwork to end your Front Leg lift with your weight evenly distributed around (not over) your Back Leg.

From this Starting Position, a rotational movement down the mound frees your Throwing Arm to produce the results needed to realize your wildest pitching dreams.

Next Steps

To generate the results you always dreamed possible, place your focus on improving your weight distribution into your Front Leg lift.

Program Your Body for Success

Pro Pitching Institute

Your Brain is designed to work in a “when-then” format.

When < in your everyday life, you make a movement >, then < your Brain is programmed to respond to the same movement in the same way >.

Basic Programming Statements.

When < you move> and <your movement keeps your weight centered around your Torso >, then <you will control your next movement >.

When < your movement creates a weight shift >, then < like walking a balance beam, your Brain’s programming will use your Arms to get your body back in balance >.

How do you produce the results you want?

When < you end your Front Leg lift with a distance between your Knees >, then <you will fool your Brain’s programming into acting as if you had both Feet on the ground >.

When <you fool your Brain >, then < the control you have over your Body can end your stride with your Body unraveling from the ground up > and < you will whip your Throwing Arm into release > and < you will produce the results you want with uncanny regularity >.

Next Steps

Think about your movements in terms of your Mind’s programming and you’ll immediately produce better results more often.

Get Better Results More Often!

Instead of throwing the ball, let your Body position at the top of your Front Leg lift produce the results you need to keep your pitching dreams alive.

Start by Understanding Your Body.

1.    When balanced on one leg, your Lower Body moves in unison with your Shoulders.

2.    Therefore, to rotate your Hips, you must first spin your Shoulders.

Your Dilemma.

Your problem is that, as silly as it sounds, you’re taught to throw with your Throwing Arm.

1.    When you use your Throwing Arm to deliver your pitches, you stop your Front Shoulder from moving your Hips.

2.    You lose your Lower Body.

3.    Your Throwing Arm works alone, and

4.    You can’t know with any certainty where any single pitch will end up.

Your Solution.

By ending your Front Leg lift with your Back Knee over the Little Toes of your Back Foot, you keep your Arms free to move the way you want.

1.    You can then use your Glove Arm to rotate out of your Front Leg lift.

2.    Your rotation ends your Stride with your Hips and Shoulders at different angles.

3.    Your Body position at Foot Plant forces your Lower Body to whip your Throwing Hand into release and repeatedly produce the results you expect.

Your bottom line … instead of throwing the ball, let your Body position at the top of your Front Leg lift produce the results you need to keep your pitching dreams alive.

How To You Keep Your Lower Body Connected?

Discover how your Foot Placements prepare your Lower Body to produce the results you want as often as you expect.

Ending your Stride with a twisted Torso force your Body to use your Throwing Action to right itself.

In the process, your Lower Body produces the results you want as often as you expect.

How Do You End Your Stride with a Twist?

To end your Stride with your Hips and Shoulders at different angles, you use your Glove Side Shoulder to spin your Body out of your Front Leg lift.

Your Foot Plant stops your Lower Body rotation, your Upper Body continues to spin, and for your Body to get itself back to balance, you force your Body to make a throwing action.

Active Strides Hurt Your Results.

When you actively stride, you use your Throwing Arm to offset your forward weight shift, and by doing so, you lock your Glove Arm in place.

With your Glove Arm locked in place, you block any Upper Body rotation, and can only hope to produce the results you expect.

A Free Glove Arm is Critical to Your Mound Success.

The right Foot placements end your Front Leg lift with your Front Knee in front of your Front Shoulder.

The separation between your Knees keeps your Glove Arm free to have your Lower Body drive the results you want.

Here’s a Way to Instantly Improve Your Pitching Results

Discover a proven way to trick your Body into producing the results you need to keep your pitching career moving to the next level.

Pitching aside, with both Feet on the ground, your Body naturally centers your weight between your Feet and keeps your Arms free to move the way you want.

The Results You Want

By ending your Front Leg lift with a distance between your Knees, you trick your body into acting as if you had both Feet on the ground.

Your Body keeps your Glove Arm free to engage your Lower Body, you allow your Throwing Arm to react to your Lower Body and, as an instantaneous reaction, your Throwing Action produces the results you want.

The Results You Do Have

However, when, at the top of your Front Leg lift, you place your weight over your Back Foot, you must stride.

Your stride may move you toward your target, but it also engages your Front Hip, locks your Throwing Shoulder in place, and makes using your Lower Body to drive your results physically impossible.

This means, unless you find a productive Stride tempo, you can only hope to produce the results you want.

Get Better Results

Producing better results comes from finding the right combination of Foot Placements and Lower Body positioning that’ll allow you to end your Front Leg lift with a distance between your Knees.

If you need help finding a productive Front Leg lift, Coach Skip is waiting for your call.
