LET’S GET REAL ABOUT COMMAND!

Don’t get us wrong, velocity WILL get you notice, but it’s command that guarantees a long and prosperous pitching career.

Baseball’s Artificial Reality

The baseball community misleads and deceives you into thinking velocity will get you where you want.

Therefore, the baseball community’s artificial consensus turns velocity into a manufactured reality.

Don’t get us wrong, velocity WILL get you notice, but it’s command that guarantees a long and prosperous pitching career.

How do you measure command?

Just like velocity, command is a black-and-white observation. Did the ball travel directly into your target or didn’t it?

You measure command as the ratio of pitches traveling directly into your target compared to the total pitches thrown.

The higher the ratio, the more effective you are as a Pitcher.

How did velocity become an artificial reality?

Because Pitching Coaches don’t know how to teach command, they’re not going to measure something they can’t teach.

Velocity is easy to measure and, as such, becomes a Pitching Coach’s go to measurement.

What’s Your Reality?

When you pitch professionally, everyone around you throws as hard as you. It’s at this point that command separates the “haves” from the “have nots”.

When you execute your pitch directly into your target, the professional hitter you’re facing is less likely to drive the ball.

Without command, you risk missing your target over the plate, the hitter driving the ball and your Team asking someone with command to replace you.

Unfair, but true.

Your Pitching Coach is going to teach velocity, not command.

It’s unfair and your chances of success are slim, but to achieve your pitching dreams, you become responsible for teaching yourself something your Pitching Coach can’t.

Here’s the good news.

The Pro Pitching Institute teaches command. No matter where you live, we skillfully use Facebook Messenger to make you indispensable to your Coach and your Team.

ONCE AND FOR ALL, STOP STRUGGLING WITH YOUR LOCATION!

Failure essentially comes from an assumptive approach, but failure is avoided when you analyze how your gravitational prompts impact your results.

Is your pitching built on assumptions?

When little is known, much is assumed. As soon as you fall into the trap where assumptions are treated as fact, you never really know where any one pitch will end up.

When assumptive learning is all you know, you rightfully believe your assumptions are fact, but, when you try to explain why you miss your target as often as you do, assumptive learning falls apart.

Assumptive learning draws attention to what you don’t know, what you’re uncertain about and what you sense is missing. Because solutions have yet to emerge, you turn your usual assumptions into possible solutions.

With assumptions, your pitching future goes no further than your next pitch and, because your next pitch is still based upon the same tired assumptions, you never notice any sustainable improvement.
Instead, use gravity as the basis to test and question your assumptions. Your testing and questioning systematically turns your assumptions into statistically-backed knowledge.

Turn assumptions into knowledge.

A gravity-driven line of attack imposes disciplines different from and more focused than the undisciplined assumptive approach you’re used to. As soon as you synchronize your well-intentioned assumptions to the way gravity impacts your delivery, you significantly reduce the frequency of pitches missing your target.

Failure essentially comes from an assumptive approach, but failure is avoided when you analyze how your gravitational prompts impact your results.

Here’s the good news.

By following the back foot orientations, foot placements and core activation routines outlined at the Pro Pitching Institute, you experience instantaneous improvement, meaningful reasons for every unacceptable outcome and a plan that’ll systematically bring your worst misses closer to your target.

COMMAND IS ACHIEVABLE AND REPEATABLE

By centering your weight between your knees at the top of your front leg lift, superior pitching results become very achievable and, better yet, extremely repeatable.

Centering your weight supercharges results

When you make your usual throwing action from a front leg lift ending with your weight centered between your knees, you…
  1. Enhance your throwing arm speed,
  2. Create later ball movement,
  3. Send more pitches directly into your target than ever before and
  4. Challenge every hitter to drive any pitch you throw.

Hardwired reactions encourage excellence

Your throwing action forces …
  1. Your body to stride.
  2. Your stride to produce an imbalance.
  3. Your imbalance requiring you to get your front foot back on the ground.
  4. Your front foot hitting the ground abruptly stopping your body’s rotation.
  5. Your stoppage creating an unnatural upper and lower body positioning.
  6. Your upper and lower body misalignment causing gravity to use your throwing arm to make a throwing action.

Natural reactions breed pitching brilliance

As a natural reaction to gravity needing your throwing arm to make a throwing action, gravity …
  1. Brings your throwing hand through the same tiny release window on every pitch,
  2. Whips your throwing arm into release,
  3. Produces later ball movement than usual and
  4. No matter the grip, always shows every hitter a fastball arm speed.

By centering your weight between your knees at the top of your front leg lift, superior pitching results become very achievable and, better yet, extremely repeatable.

Here’s the good news.

By following the back foot orientations, foot placements and core activation routines outlined at the Pro Pitching Institute, your natural reactions are guaranteed to promote superior pitching results.

DO YOUR FOOT PLACEMENTS PROMOTE COMMAND?

DO YOUR FOOT PLACEMENTS PROMOTE COMMAND? With gravity turning your throwing action into a natural reaction, your ball travels into your target more often than when your foot placements were more arbitrary.

How do you begin your motion?

Before your front foot comes off the ground, you make conscious decisions where you’re going to place your feet.

Your foot placements tell gravity to end your starting position with …
  • Your weight centered over your back foot or
  • Your weight centered between your knees.

Beginning with your weight over your back-foot compromises your command.

Your foot placements mean gravity ends your front leg lift with your weight over your back foot.

From this position, gravity forces you to stride down the mound.

As an instinctual reaction, gravity uses your throwing arm to balance your stride and, once gravity completes your foot plant, to rebalance your weight between your feet.

By ending your foot plant in a balanced position, delivering any pitch into your target becomes a separate battle.

When you end your front leg lift with your weight over your back foot, your success is determined by how well you overcome your failures.

As you’re about to realize, you become more successful by ending your front leg lift with your weight centered between your knees.

Beginning with your weight centered between your knees promotes success.

Your foot placements mean gravity ends your starting position with your weight centered between your knees.

This puts you in a position to rotate down the mound around an axis that gravity created as your front foot came off the ground.

By rotating down the mound, you keep your throwing arm uninvolved with your balance.

As an instinctual reaction, to get your body back in balance, gravity completes your foot plant and uses your throwing action to get you back in balance.

With gravity turning your throwing action into a natural reaction, your ball travels into your target more often than when your foot placements were more arbitrary.

Here’s the good news.

By following the back foot orientations, foot placements and front leg lifts outlined at the Pro Pitching Institute, your location will challenge every hitter on every pitch.

USE GRAVITY TO MAXIMIZE OF VELOCITY AND COMMAND

Here’s a way to maximize your velocity while you see your ball traveling into your target more often than not!

You don’t want your motion to be like a see-saw.

Just like see-saws teeter from one side of a bar to the other, when gravity forces you to end your front leg lift with your weight over your back foot, gravity uses your throwing arm to balance your stride. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to complete your throwing action until gravity stops needing your throwing arm for balance.

When your motion is like a see-saw, your velocity is only as good as the arm speed you generate as you rotate your shoulders around your head, but, because your throwing arm is working alone, you never really know where any one pitch will end up.

You want your motion to be like a merry-go-round.

With the right foot placements and front leg lift, gravity ends your front leg lift with your weight vertically  balanced between your knees  and horizontally balanced along a line running from your head to your bellybutton. Your weight distribution allows you to come out of your front leg lift with a hip rotation. Just like you won’t move as quickly when you stand near the center of a merry-go-round that you do when you stand near the outer edge, you allow your slow-moving hips to whip your throwing arm into release.

When your motion mirrors a merry-go-round, your hip rotation maximizes your throwing arm speed and, at the same time, your hip activity forces a situation where, to get back in balance, gravity takes your throwing arm through the same path on every pitch. Consequently, you maximize your velocity while you see your ball traveling into your target more often than not!

Here’s the good news.

By following the process outlined at the Pro Pitching Institute, you’ll make your motion more like a merry-go-round and, in the process, challenge every hitter on every pitch.
