Throwing Arm Command*

Hi, I’m Coach Skip and I teach pitchers how to use their Lower Body to promote command.

Non-Command

Any Starting Position where your Front Knee begins behind your Front Hip means your Throwing Arm is used for balance.

Your Throwing Arm action causes you to lose your target.

Command

On the other hand, a well-coordinated, balanced Starting Position puts your ball where you want.

While your Front Foot is still off the ground, you use your Glove Arm to activate your Lower Body.

Your Glove Arm pulling back gives your Body no choice but to use activate your Lower Body.

Your ball goes to your target and your control the hitter.

How To Accomplish This?

Command

Hi, I’m Coach Skip and I have a simple way to improve your command.

Complicated Command

You don’t realize it, but, throughout the motion, your Throwing Arm is involved with your balance, and, because of this, your Throwing Arm commands your pitch.

Everything feels normal, but your location is spotty.

Command is Simple

On the other hand, your best command comes from landing your Front Leg lift, then coming into your motion.

Your starting position places your weight just in front of your Back Foot, your Front Leg is free to rise without hurting your balance, and your Glove Hand has your Lower Body send your pitch to your target.

Your Throwing Action creates your command.

Front Foot Position*

Begin your motion with your feet one baseball width apart, you merely lift your front leg, and your Front Knee stays in front of your Front Hip.

Hi, I’m Coach Skip and I have a simple way to improve your command (and velocity).

Your front foot position predicts your front knee lift.

Front Foot Mover Than Shoulders

When you begin with your front foot wider than your Shoulders, you end your front leg lift with your front knee behind your front hip.

From this position you have little control over your pitch.

Feet 1-Baseball Width

However, begin your motion with your feet one baseball width apart, you merely lift your front leg, and your Front Knee stays in front of your Front Hip.

From this position you know where your ball will end up

Front Knee Position Drives Success*

Your Front Knee beginning in front of your Front Hip means your body is in balance and your Arms are free to move the way you want.

Front Knee Behind Your Front Hip

Your Front Knee starting behind your Front Hip tells your body it needs to react to your weight distribution.

As you move down the mound, your Throwing Hand keeps your body in balance, you lose your command, and never know where any one pitch will end up.

Front Knee in Front of Your Front Hip

However, your Front Knee beginning in front of your Front Hip means your body is in balance and your Arms are free to move the way you want.

Your Glove Arm prompts your Lower Body, and your ball goes into your target

Back Knee Position Promotes Command

Your command is as good as it’s going to be when Back Knee begins behind your Back Foot.

Hi, my name is Coach Skip and I guarantee* to make any throwing action more productive!

Only one Back Knee position promotes better command.

Back Knee Position

Your Back Knee beginning in front of your Back Foot isn’t your solution.

Your command is as good as it’s going to be when your Back Knee begins behind your Back Foot.

Place your Back Knee behind your Back Foot and

-        - Your weight stays back,
Your throwing action becomes natural and automatic, and
- Y
our Lower Body sends every pitch directly into your target.

Lower Body Step and Throw

Your Arms deliver the ball to your target, and you force the Hitter to pick up ball speed and movement.

Don’t “Step then Throw”

In your Starting Position, when your front knee goes behind your front hip, your Arms instinctively keep your body in balance.

You regain the use of your Arms at Foot Plant, then you deliver the ball.

You let your weight move forward, you step then throw, and your Throwing Action determines your ball location.

Do “Step and Throw”

However, when your Front Knee stays in front of your front hip, you control your Arms movements, land your Foot Plant, and throw the ball.

Your Arms deliver the ball to your target, and you force the Hitter to pick up ball speed and movement.

Essentially, your Lower Body produces your command.
