Archery Simplifies Pitching

Like pitching, in archery, everything starts with stance.

Stance = Your Starting Position

In archery, everything starts with stance.

In pitching, your front knee stays in front of your front hip during your leg lift to keep your body balanced and set up power.

Accuracy Starts with Position

Everything lines up when your front knee finishes ahead of your front hip.

Your glove work engages your lower body, your sequence builds, and the ball gets delivered to the target.

Drawing the Bow Builds the Motion

An archer draws and releases the arrow.

In pitching, your glove hand initiates the motion, bringing your lower body into the throw, and your arm follows what your body builds.

The Release Happens Naturally

When the archer is balanced, the release is automatic.

When your front knee is ahead of your front hip, your glove work directs the motion, your hips rotate, and power transfers through the body.

Your throw is controlled.

FASTBALL PROGRESSION STARTS HERE

Instead of your arm trying to find your target, you fix the starting position, and your body delivers the ball to the target.

Can’t Find Your Fastball Progression?

Your fastball doesn’t stall by accident.

Your ball stalls because your motion never builds in order.

When your starting position is off, your body can’t sequence, your front leg lands before you’re ready, and your arm takes over.

Now, your command disappears, your velocity becomes inconsistent, and every throw becomes a compensation.

How Do You Fix Your Motion?

Instead of more effort, you need the right sequence.

Your motion starts with your starting position, moves through your glove hand action,
and ends with the ball being delivered to your target.

In one session with Coach Skip Fast, you learn how to get your front shoulder even with your front knee, how your glove hand initiates your motion, and how your sequence builds from start to release.

Instead of your arm trying to find your target, you fix the starting position, and your body delivers the ball to the target.

Simple. Direct. Effective.

Maintaining Balance Produces Location

A pitcher’s starting position controls their proprioception and determines how the entire kinetic chain sequences.

A pitcher’s starting position controls their proprioception and determines how the entire kinetic chain sequences.

Your Foot Position

Setting your feet one baseball width apart builds the foundation of your entire delivery.

When your feet are aligned, your body starts balanced, your movement becomes directional, and your motion has a chance to sequence

From here, your glove hand connects everything.

Your Front Foot Lift

At lift, your front knee stays in front of your front shoulder, your front heel aligns with your back toes, and your front toes point toward the target

This is what shows up when your start is right.

Now your body is balanced, connected, and ready to move forward.

Your Glove Work and Throwing Action

Your glove hand starts the motion, engages your core, allows the lower body to open, and helps land your stride

This is where most get it wrong. They try to “use the lower body,” but the lower body responds to what the upper body starts.

When timed correctly, your glove hand moves the system, and energy transfers from the ground, through the core, into the arm.

From there, velocity and command are not forced; they’re produced.
